Hey Friends!
So, I've been a little MIA recently, and with good reason: I had a minor cycling accident just over a week ago and injured my wrist. As a result, it has become a little harder to type, multi-task, and certainly to cook/bake. Just when I felt like I was hitting my stride with this whole 'consistent presence' thing... but hey, c'est la vie.
But...just because I can't make sweet treats, doesn't mean I can't consume them! And yesterday I was just in luck as it was our 5 year wedding anniversary and the hubby and I decided to hit one of our favourite restaurants to celebrate: Union! Now believe me, Union offers more than just delicious dessert: everything on their menu is locally sourced, fresh made and absolutely to die for! Union is the kind of business I love to endorse: Small, local, and filled with heart and love. Last night I enjoyed a Union Salad to start, followed by Steak Frites, and finally their absolutely delectable and unrivalled Pecan Pie! mmmmmmm
No, it was not gluten-free, yes it probably contained refined sugar and there was certainly dairy in the fresh made whipped cream, but boy was it worth it. So delicious it was in fact, that Andrew even had a bite (and that NEVER happens!)
So if you're in the Queen and Ossington area friends, go check Union out. Particularly if you happen to be there on a Sunday, as they offer a $40 Prix Fixe menu in a relaxed and old-world atmosphere that makes the whole dining experience truly enjoyable!
Happy munching friends
